Gilmore Girls - A funny way to end your day

This blog is all about art, all kinds of art. I decided to broaden the themes of the blog, as art is a wonderfully abstract concept where almost anything can fit in. For me, art is something that betters someone’s day or makes them think, something that could fascinate them or maybe even scare them. Art is something about the way in which you see life, the way you relax, and the way you work. Summing it up, art is everything that makes you actually feel something. So, there’s a lot of stuff that could fit in this description of mine, don’t you think? I love shows and series. They’re my way to unwind at the end of the day, and when they are really good, they inspire me. From my perspective, they clearly fit into this category. So I decided to talk about some of them, the ones I watched, am currently watching, or intend to watch, and share with you how I feel about them. My first post on this subject is about an old TV series that I am currently watching for the ve...

Short Tales of Horror (part II) - Review

Prepare yourself for a group of stories that will make you shiver. It’s hard to describe exactly what you are going to find, without giving away any spoilers. So, what can I say then? To sum it up nicely in one word: creepy. A lot of ‘creepy’! The Usual Ghost Story? When I first started to read the first story, I was expecting a normal, or regular ghost trope, that would scared me, but Regina Pucket had some else in mind for us. You won’t jump in the chair, but you’ll definitely get some goose-bumps. You’ll finish each story with a weird feeling, like something is not quite right, but just when you turn off the light, that discomfort will attack you. You’ll feel that these stories are disturbing in their very own special way and that’s what makes this book really interesting. Read... if you dare Not afraid of ghost stories? Good. Turn off those lights, and allow yourself to be immersed in these stories. Feel the hair in the back of your neck rise.

The Girl on the Train – A Overrated Twisty Ride

This book first caught my eye because of its cover — simple, clever, intriguing. The glowing reviews didn’t hurt either, so I went in with fairly high expectations. Unreliable Narrator(s) At the center of the story is a deeply troubled protagonist — an alcoholic woman prone to memory lapses, who shares the narrative with two other women. All three narrators are unreliable in their own way, which adds layers of complexity but also makes it hard to fully trust or connect with them. A Puzzle or Just a Mess? Like any good thriller, The Girl on the Train keeps you guessing. The plot twists and turns, occasionally to the point of disorientation. But that’s part of its charm — it pulls you in, even when you’re not quite sure what you’re holding on to. The characters are all over the place — flawed, messy, sometimes unlikable — but strangely relatable. You may not root for them, but you understand them, which is a testament to the author ’s skill. More Than It Seems, Yet Less Th...

The Infatuations - Obsession, Death, and Consciousness

Javier Marías’ The Infatuations ( Los enamoramientos ) is a thought-provoking novel that transcends its title. Though it suggests a romantic tale, the book is much more—an exploration of grief, love, moral ambiguity, and the inner turmoil of human consciousness.  First published in 2011, this literary gem earned the prestigious European Literary Prize , cementing Marías' status as one of Spain’s most intellectually rich authors. A Psychological Journey, Not Just a Plot While the novel begins with an almost voyeuristic interest in a seemingly perfect couple, it quickly evolves into something far deeper. The narrator, María, becomes entangled in their lives after a violent tragedy. As she uncovers a disturbing truth, she confronts a moral dilemma that forces her to reevaluate everything she believed about right, wrong, and her own desires. Marías masterfully portrays María’s internal conflict , capturing the hesitation, fear, and emotional complexity of someone who stumbles up...

Is "The Prettiest One" by James Hankins Worth Reading?

James Hankins’ The Prettiest One is a fast-paced psychological thriller that hooks you from the very first page and keeps you guessing until the end.  Known for his gripping suspense novels, Hankins delivers another twist-laden tale that blends mystery, action, and psychological intrigue. If you enjoy stories that challenge memory, identity, and trust, this might just be the book for you. A Chilling Start The novel opens with a chilling premise: a woman wakes up in a strange house with no memory of where she is or how she got there. Bloodied and disoriented, she soon discovers she’s been missing for months. As she pieces together the fragments of her forgotten past, a darker truth begins to emerge—one that threatens her sanity and her life. Hankins dives straight into the action, giving readers a protagonist grappling with memory loss, trauma, and fear. This setup creates immediate intrigue and raises questions that carry the momentum of the story. The Main Character Fell ...

The Short Drop - Pure Adrenaline

This was my first book using Kindle App on my tablet and it was the best choice I could’ve ever made. Named by Goodreads the Best Book of December 2015, The Short Drop is an adrenaline-filled thriller which I wasn’t able to put down. Clever and Fast Action Matthew FitzSimmons presents us with a good and intelligent story, with deep characters with whom we easily identify ourselves.  The plot is a tad complicated, yet it’s easy to follow, everything happens so quickly, and the ending will most likely blow your mind, in a good way.  It’s not that the story is absolutely unique or that you’ve never heard of any story like that. Instead, how you are conducted and made to think along the way pulls you in and keeps you there. Like any good mystery book, nothing is what it appears to be, and no one is who they claim to be. More Than You'd Expect It begins with the disappearance of an important politician’s daughter and can be described as a political thriller. Yet,...
