Raising Voices - Why Alma's Mom Had the Right Reaction

In Netflix’s Raising Voices , there's a raw, emotionally charged moment when Alma confesses to her mom that something happened the night she disappeared — she was drunk, she had sex, and something didn’t feel right. It’s the kind of moment that many parents dread. But Alma’s mom handled it in a way that deserves attention. She didn’t panic. She didn’t judge. She didn’t lose control. Instead, she met her daughter halfway, which made all the difference. What Happened in the Scene? When Alma opened up to her mom, she wasn’t just confessing — she was testing the waters for safety. Could she trust her mom with the truth? Would she still be loved after saying something shameful, scary, or confusing? Her mom’s response wasn’t perfect — but it was real. She was concerned, but didn’t explode. She asked questions. She listened. She let the moment breathe. Why That Reaction Matters Technically, what Alma described can be considered sexual assault , given her level of intoxication. Bu...

What’s Really Wrong with Punto Nemo? –A Deep Dive Gone Wrong

Punto Nemo , available on Amazon Prime, tries to be a suspenseful, thought-provoking series about environmental urgency. It wants to be deep. But instead of pulling viewers in, it leaves them stranded in shallow waters. The First Question: Is It Really That Bad? At first, I wasn’t sure. The opening episode was messy, yes — confusing timelines, a poorly explained plot, and a tone that couldn’t quite decide if it was thriller, sci-fi, or something else entirely. Still, something about it made me keep watching. It wasn’t good , but it wasn’t unwatchable . So what exactly was wrong? From Confused to Completely Absurd As the episodes progressed, the cracks widened. Once they arrive at a supposedly deserted island, you might recall Lost , but get ready to be disappointed. Storylines started to collapse under their own weight. Characters made strange decisions with no explanation. The plot, already unstable, spiraled into the realm of the ridiculous. By the final episodes, it becam...

Raising Voices-A Messy Start That Becomes Something Powerful

Raising Voices (original title: Ni Una Más ) is the kind of show that initially made me want to stop watching — and then made me glad I didn’t.  Based on the novel by Miguel Sáez Carral , this Spanish Netflix series explores teen life, sexual violence, and the power of speaking out. It's not always subtle, but it's effective.  At First, It Felt Like Too Much The first couple of episodes? Honestly, I didn’t love them. It felt like the writers were trying to cram every possible issue related to sexual assault into one high school. Revenge porn, harassment, grooming, slut-shaming, rape culture — all at once. It was overwhelming. I wasn’t sure where to focus. Instead of building empathy, it felt like the show was going for pure shock value. It was hard to care when everything was dialed up to 100. But then something clicked. Maybe That Chaos Was the Point That disorientation — not knowing exactly what’s wrong, just feeling that something is — turns out to be inten...

La casa de Papel 5 (Money Heist) - Finally ended.

Although I watched the first part of season 5 when it was released, I waited for the second part to do this review. I wanted to be sure they wouldn't ruin the show last minute, as happened in many others before. They didn't. When the 5th season came out, I wasn't that willing to watch it. I was tired of the concept. It was time to finish the story. I gave it a try, and fortunately, it was a good ending. Nerve-racking as always When I started watching this season, I thought, "Oh, I knew it, this is terrible." I didn't like the first couple of episodes: too much shooting and fake blood. Things got better, though.   Around the third episode, Money Heist becomes the nerve-racking, full of emotion show we were used to. Impossible to look away from the screen. Alicia This character grew into one of my favorites. She evolved wonderfully throughout the story and ended up as a magnificent character. I loved it, but she has her flaws as well, right?  Let's face i...

Elite - season 4: review

Alert: the following text contains spoilers! Elite presented us a fourth season as addictive as always (check reviews for previous seasons here and here ). The way each season is built, making you know what happened, and looking back to find out how you got that result is a formula that works year after year. After the last season, where most characters graduated, things changed a bit in Las Encinas . I loved the new characters and the dynamic they brought to the school. Yet, even though the formula works (after all, we’re still watching), after four seasons, it starts to get a bit too much “bad luck”, don’t you think? More tragedy? More death? In a high school? What was an interesting crime show is becoming repetitive and unrealistic. New protagonists We still follow the older students’ lives in this season, but the new characters quickly assume themselves as protagonists. I would say Mencía and her accidental entrance into the world of prostitution is the great protagonist of...

Review: La Casa de Papel Season4 (Money Heist) - Hold your Breath

Lisbon was arrested, Nairobi was shot , and the team must perform a surgery in the worst conditions possible. This is the beginning of the new season of La Casa de Papel . I was a bit suspicious about this season, didn’t have many expectations. Most shows, especially with such a specific story like Money Heist , usually start to feel boring after a couple of seasons. Well, I was surprised! Same formula The show remains faithful to the formula that got us all glued to the screens since the first episode. We follow the thieves inside the Bank, and we know how the plan development through flashbacks. When things start to be very hard, nerves raise, as well as the arguments inside the group—plausible, realistic, nerve breaking.  The quality of the show remains untouchable.  Sociopathy If we pay attention, there are a few characters with some traits of sociopathy, but none goes as far as Alicia or Gandia. Alicia is a sociopath. Yet, if you i...
