The Gorge: When Human Life Becomes Expendable

The Gorge initially seems to set up one kind of story, then suddenly becomes something very different. What begins as a slow exploration of isolation and the human need for connection eventually turns into a much more conventional science-fiction action story about genetic experimentation, military power, and the consequences of treating human beings as expendable. I actually found that division quite interesting because the two halves of the film are connected by one idea: what happens when we stop treating people as individuals? The Loneliness of the Gorge The first part of The Gorge is surprisingly focused on solitude. Two people are placed on opposite sides of an enormous gorge, with a very specific task: watch what comes out of it and make sure nothing gets through. There is no one else around them. No colleagues, no ordinary human interaction, and, most importantly, no real possibility of leaving. The people who send them there already know they won't come back alive....

You - Season 2: Review

Spoilers Ahead! Joe’s (Penn Badgley) creepiness has no end, nor his obsessions. The spiral of obsessive love and the pursuit of goals at any cost continues. However, don’t be fooled by appearances. This second season isn’t just a continuation of the first one . It is bloodier and more shocking, with some plot twists that you probably wouldn’t see coming.  I’m good, the rest of the world complicates everything One of the things that fascinated me from the beginning is how his distorted mind sees everything he does as some kind of “bad luck”. He truly believes he is a good person. Everything that happens is beyond him. He is so good at building up his own version that sometimes you almost feel sorry for him. The narration in every episode could be annoying in any other show, but it fits perfectly here. There are no words to describe Badgley’s work. Absolutely perfect. Intense development The developments for this new season made the show grow. You...

You - The Creepiest Guy (Season 1 Review)

This is a story that might make you feel weird, since right from the very beginning, even if you don’t have any idea what this show is about.  Joe (Penn Badgley), the protagonist, is this creepy guy who can send shivers down your spine. Severely mentally disturbed, he might actually make you feel sick. The Scary "Normality" The guy is absolutely disturbing, and his “incredibly normal” appearance can make the most impressionable minds question some of the people they know.  From the very first episode, it’s impressive to see how far he can go and how easily unimaginable things take place.  Impressive Character The character is deep, his story involving, and he really acts like he’s some kind of victim of circumstances, making you wonder how such a thing is possible or whether the girl (Elizabeth Lail) is just blind to it all.  You’ll soon realize she’s just oblivious to the escalating situation and figure out that he is just so perfect in his psych...
