Pam and Tommy - more than a tape

Pamela Anderson's sex tape - we all heard of it. At least people from my generation. This show is about how and why the video suddenly becomes so infamously famous. The show didn't disappoint. The first episode was a bit slow. It was clearly to give us some context. In some way, to help us understand the thief's (Rand Gauthier) motivations. In a certain way, this episode gives us his perspective. Tommy Lee appears as this arrogant idiot. He is disrespectful, and a horrible human being, while Pamela is like an extra. You barely see her during this episode. This was what Rand saw. Their story After giving us his perspective and, in a way, his version of the story, we travel in time. We go to the moment Pam and Tommy meet each other, following their romance. We follow their story, and here is when your perspective can change.  They really loved each other. While watching those first scenes, you start to feel bad for what is about to happen. More than a tape The show's ce

Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness - Quick Review

Getting curious… is not a typical show, but it's not a typical documentary either. It is something different. I gave it a try because I watch Jonathan Van Ness at Queer Eye . And I always find them so lovely and sweet that I needed to check it. It is a show that teaches you a couple of things. But it mostly makes you curious and more observant about your surroundings. Jonathan, being themselves, is playful, open-minded, and curious about so many different topics. The topics The topics they explore have a considerable variety, and they aren't related in any way I can see. It's just stuff about which they are curious. And it works! They talk about bugs, hair, non-binary gender identity, ice skating, skyscrapers, so many unrelated things! This diversity makes the show interesting. If you are not into one topic, skip for another episode. You'll probably find something that interests you.  I watched all of them, and some had an impact. Let me tell you that Jonathan is bra

The Invisible Thread (Original title: Il filo invisibile) - Movie Review

This is a story about a teenage boy making a documentary for school about his family. He has two dads and uses the film to show all the difficulties these two men faced throughout the last 20 years. It is a sweet movie, in a sweet language - Italian. Social Awareness Fortunately, the LGBTQ community issues in many different areas are nowadays more often shown in shows and movies. So why is this one different? Because it is not about them, it is about the boy. How would you feel if you could not be, legally speaking, son of both your parents? Why should technicalities define your family? This kid shows resilience to deal with so many things he shouldn’t have to. The documentary for school is super sweet. Perhaps because of that, the movie looks so thoughtful. They were able to deal with a social complex theme with humor and naturalness.  Drama The film is a drama, but you might forget that at some point because it has so many funny lines and hilarious scenes. That makes everything lig

Show Review: Emily in Paris

It took me a long time to give Emily in Paris a shot because I thought it would be a silly, shallow comedy about some sort of influencer. Well, it is a silly, shallow comedy about some sort of influencer, but to be honest, I liked it.  Emily is a young talent in a marketing career and has the opportunity of her life: working in Paris for a year! And since her boyfriend is an idiot, she can try the full experience of being a single woman in the city of love.  Unfortunately, she is not as good at managing her personal life as she is at work. In fact, she is frankly terrible at making decisions outside work. Cultural Differences Everyone who has been in a foreign country knows that sometimes we get ourselves into awkward situations due to cultural differences. So watching someone else go through the same is quite funny. I must admit that seeing an American trying to speak French is hilarious. Of course, I’m not French (and French people who hear me trying to speak French could have a s

Encanto - one of the sweetest

La familia madrigal. A family full of magic helps everyone in the small village they live in. The grandmother had to run away in the past, and when everything seemed to be lost, a miracle happened - magic! Now, every member of the family receives their special magical abilities. Well, most of them… Being different Mirabel is the only one in her family who has no powers. So can you imagine the problem? I see it as an inverted version of Frozen . In this case, the problematic one is the girl who doesn't have magic. The problem is not the magic. The problem is to be different. We can not forget that this is a Disney movie, so it has life lessons for children (and not only for them). It is okay to be different because that means you can solve problems that others can't. Also, you don't need to be perfect. You need to be happy.  Abuela In my opinion, the most crucial lesson in the film is for adults, not children. It is related to the Abuela character.  She was so focused o

The Girl on the Train - Movie Review

When you start watching The Girl on the Train , you’ll probably feel the same as you did if you read the book: a bit confused. The first scenes can be difficult to follow, but it all gets better as the story develops. I thought that not being perfect, captured the right feeling for this story.  A good actress can save a mediocre movie Emily Blunt is Rachel, the main character, and I must say: she is great. The main trace of this character is the almost permanent confusion, mentally speaking. Emily was able to portray it perfectly.  In fact, if it weren’t for her performance, the film wouldn’t be very interesting. It has a pace that is too slow, and we have the perspective of a person who is confused and almost permanently drunk. It would be boring. So congratulations, she did a great job. You can’t ignore the differences It is an almost universal truth that movies are never as good as books. They always miss something, and The Girl on the Train wasn’t different. The first thing tha

Pose - When the world doesn't want you to exist

When family rejects you, you make a new family. When the world rejects you, you create a new world.  Pose is a pretty emotional show about the balls environment in the 80s in New York City. The gay and trans black community were looking for their place in the world. When I first started watching this show, I got a bit confused. Balls? This was a reality I didn't know at all, and I had no idea what those balls were. I found it fascinating. Mothers and Houses As soon as you enter this community, you're not alone anymore. This whole system of "houses", with a maternal figure, gives you all the support you need to fight for what you want. No matter the kind of family you have, families will always fight and have their issues. But these families were chosen, not imposed, so they will always find a way.  Blanca Rodriguez is the main character. She lives in one of these houses, but her mother, Elektra, didn't give her what she was looking for. With Elektra, it was all
