Dead to Me had finally returned to a second season. Yet, it probably should have ended in the first one. I'm sorry fans of the show, but this second season was a bit… too much?
[SPOILERS]
Let's see. The dysfunctional duo can't stop committing crimes and avoiding responsibilities. Now, the two friends are even more involved in terrible secrets. They have no idea how to get out of the madness spiral they're in to.
Other than that, we have Jen's neighbor. Could that woman be more annoying and nosy? And how about Steve's twin brother? Twin? For real?
Too emotional
It seems that they tried to humanize the characters a bit more, but they went too far. Jen confesses a murder, and the cop let her go. That's nonsense! Why did the cop do it? Because the fragile cop has, after all, mommy issues! Did she miss the part that Jen killed a man?
In a time where feminism is such a big deal, this wasn't a good choice. It makes women look like little super emotional and irrational beings.
No matter how implausible it is for something to happen. In this season, it will happen. Ridiculous.
The End
If you were able to get to the end of the show, you didn't find a good one.
First, Judy gets a lot of money that was hiding inside her paintings. A lot of money. Is she that innocent? Also, let's not forget Charlie finding the envelopes. Naturally, you'll leave a letter where you confess a crime lying around the house, right?
We already realize that Steve's brother has a problem with alcohol, but that end? Too many coincidences to be credible.
Where is the fun aspect?
Dead to Me is supposed to be a comedy, a dark comedy, but it isn't. At least, not anymore.
I mean, it could be interesting to watch as everything happens to take them down, but enough is enough. It was too much. Everything goes wrong, but they have zero consequences. It feels empty.
I loved the first season. This one was a disappointment.
