When I first started watching this show, there wasn’t as much of a buzz surrounding it yet, so I was reluctant. 

It was a Spanish show, of which I knew nothing, but… I decided to give it a try. And, I can tell you: I didn’t regret my decision whatsoever. It now sits on the throne as the most-watched non-English show on Netflix, and that honestly doesn’t come as a surprise to me.

Engaging 


It’s a great show, with a good story and very engaging from the start. Netflix split it into two seasons, so when I finished the first, I had to wait a while for the second to pop up…

It, however, did not disappoint. The characters are deep, and they manage to involve you in such a profound way, forcing you to empathize with their situation, that at some points, you’re not sure of who the bad guys are, in all of this, anymore. I think that was part of the point the show tries to make, and, if so, was tremendously well done!

Breath Taking


You find yourself out of breath with some scenes, enraged with some others, and feeling as if you want to jump into the scene and solve the problem yourself. 

The episodes provide a perfect blend of action, breathtaking scenes, and peaceful ones, filled with harmony and character development. It’s psychologically intense and it will raise many questions in your mind.

It Needs a Special End


What I liked the most about this show is the fact that it’s full of surprises, even when you think you have already figured everything out. 

The last scene of Berlin (Pedro Alonso) is almost perfect, not only for the scene itself but also given the character’s full background story. It’s poetic, yet sarcastic, all at once.

The end of the show wasn’t the best part, though, not for me at least. I thought there were a few too many “unicorns and rainbows”. Such a great show deserved a finale more befitting of the intensity it walked us through. 

What is Coming


After this, I’ll definitely keep an eye on more Spanish shows. High-quality production, with deep characters and an exciting story. Sign me up for more of whatever this was!

Emily in Paris 3: The Good, the Bad, and the Unrealistic

  The third season of Emily in Paris got a lot of hate and love among the viewers. People can’t decide if it was the best season or the worst of all. And I understand why. We start the season with Emily’s life in perfect chaos, and she doesn’t seem to know what she wants. She never does… Is this good for the plot? Maybe. Is this annoying? Sometimes. So… why can’t we stop watching it? Are you feeling frustrated? Me too. She doesn’t know what she wants.   The Lying Life of Adults shows us, once more, that the teenage years and growing up can be painful.  Giovanna is the main character of this story, and she is feeling all the fast changes adolescence demands in a deeply divided town.
