I watched this movie on one of those nights—you know the kind. My husband had a rare evening off, our baby was finally asleep, and we had that golden question on our hands:
“Should we watch something? And if so... what?”
So I opened Netflix, did a bit of scrolling, and landed on a zombie movie. Why not, right? We hit play. We weren’t expecting much—just something fun to unwind with.
First Impressions: An Unexpected Take on the Undead
Let me start by saying this: it’s not a bad movie.
The plot had some interesting elements, the cast was solid, and the pacing wasn’t awful. But there was one thing that completely threw me off…
The zombies run. And jump. And climb.
Yes, you read that right.
As a fan of zombie movies and post-apocalyptic settings, I’ve seen all kinds of takes on the genre—but this one felt especially… energetic. At first, I couldn’t even process what I was seeing. Zombies aren't supposed to be athletic! It was almost too much for my traditional zombie-loving brain to handle.
I grew up on slow-walking zombies like in The Walking Dead, so this one caught me off guard.
A Zombie Movie with a Twist (Maybe Too Much?)
I appreciate creativity in horror, and I know the genre evolves, but this one stretched my suspension of disbelief a little too far. It leaned more toward action-thriller than eerie apocalypse, and that’s not exactly what I came for.
Still, depending on your mood, this could totally work as a fun pick for a casual movie night. Especially if you’re watching with someone who enjoys laughing at the absurd alongside you.
Definitely Not Your Average Zombie Flick
In the end, this zombie movie might not make it to my top 10 list, but it’s not without its charm. It’s fast, loud, and a little ridiculous—but sometimes that’s exactly what the night calls for.
Just be warned: the zombies run. And jump. And climb.
(I still can’t get over it.)
